One of the easiest ways to access the network and Internet troubleshooting wizards is to open the Network and Sharing Center and click on the Troubleshoot problems. An alternative is opening Control Panel and searching for the word 'trouble'. The first result will be the Troubleshooting link. Help how to open RDF files: Use text editor or specialised application (Adobe Dreamweaver) to open and edit the.rdf files. Any web browser will also open the.rdf files. How to convert file with extension RDF: As far as we know, this.rdf file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files. Hi all, I've got a problem when creating a text file from an RDF which wraps my records. I need the file to be exported into other applications like excel. The length of each row in the RDF is very long with fixed columns. I'm running my RDF in three tier mode and the report is displayed in a browser window. I then need to do a save as text file from the browser window. When i open the txt file in excel, the rows are wrapped. The rows are also already wrapped in the browser window. When i do my testing in Client server mode, the generate to file option in report builder works fine and i'm able to generate a txt file with very long rows that doesn't wrap(via the previewer). And when i import it into excel, I'm able to import each row without any wrapping. Could my problem lie with the browser and running it in Three tier? Form input is submitted over an HTTP connection, and that implies a server, and there are many ways to handle form input on a web server although since you're asking on a Java forum you're probably using servlets (or something on top of servlets, like Struts). And there's no direct mapping from form input to RDF -- form input is just key/value pairs with no particular relationship between the keys or requirements on their values -- so you'd need to explain what the form input means and how you want it to relate to RDF. I'm running Oracle Forms 11g on Linux, 64bit server. For 15 years I've been exporting my timecards from Filemaker and importing them into my payroll program from Checkmark. Now with FM12 I can't seem to get a simple.txt file saved. It now defaults as a.tab file even when I tell it not to use an extension. In FM 11 I just deleted.tab from the filename as I was saving the file. Now I have to manually edit the exported filename to delete the.tab extension before I can import my file into payroll. Is there a way around this manual process? Whether the report program could be programmed and excuted like below: 1)Extract the data which will be used for output 2)save those data into *.txt file 2)Then automatic to open the *.txt files with bWordPad/b program, Be Attention: NOT NotePad. 3)Set font to MS Mingcho 4)Save all the data into *.txt file using WordPad 5)After that, then back to the abap program, then send mail to somebody this txt files. As for why need to save *.txt files again in WordPad, coz sometimes we found that the format will be distorted when saving data into txt files first time. If you open txt files by WordPad and save it into txt files again, you will find that the format turns to be good. Could above steps be done using ABAP programming??? Here lately I've been having a problem with notepad documents. I was changing my information on a website of mine and copied and pasted the information into a Notepad so I wouldn't lose the changes before I was finished. When I saved the notepad document to my computer desktop, I watched it save as a.txt file. When Iwent tomy desktop to look at the file again and make some more changes, the document is now MS-DOS! How did a.txt document get saved as an MS-DOS? Is there a way I can change the file back to a.txt? I really need the information that was in that file!!!! Hi All I am new to Forms and Reports. I am currently working with Forms/Reports 6. I am calling near to 10 reports from a forms application giving all the parameters using PARAMLIST. But while connecting one of the report i get the following error. Starting report Report1 [Wed Apr 25 19:]. REP-1803: Unable to open destination file '. End report Report1 [Wed Apr 25 19:]. All the other reports are loading correct. ( so i guess there is no issue with REPORTS_PATH) I checked the parameter values from Forms. And all are correct. While I open the RDF file from Report Builder. It is also working fine. I tried changing the name of the RDF file. But still not working. Also i noticed that if the reports runtime does not find the file it gives the following err Starting report Report1 [Wed Apr 25 19:]. REP-0110: Unable to open file 'Report1.rdf'. After running the class file i would like to save the results into memory, and then update the results in memory every time the program runs including the number of times it checked whatever it is going to check with the result of that checking. Then saving the results into a.txt file every time the program goes to sleep for an hour, as it has while(ture) loop. Will storing data in a variable save it into memory?? (example if u can please) I will be gratefull if you could tell/show me how to to save the results into memory and then update these results (i will need examples please). As having the program in a while(ture) loop and saving the result into a.txt file has been done. Thanks a lot in advance. Looks like I'm thinking of everything from a develpment point of view!! Hello all, I am working on upgrades and have been tasked with comparing and checking Forms (FMB) and Reports (RDF) files. I have been using Compare It! To compare the FMB files after using the File --- Administration --- Object List Report to convert to text in Oracle Forms and Reports. Comparing RDF files has been more challenging. I looked under File Administration in Reports Builder but do not see a relevant option. Also, what is a good standard to convert to if not.txt to compare? Thank You, JS. Hello,I tried your code and found:1. In function DoFileSave:SendMessage(hwndListBox, LB_GETTEXT, a, etxt[a]); //get all textThe last parameter should be (LPARAM)etxt2. And in the following code, we have got the text of each item, we just need sending LB_GETTEXTLEN message to get its length: int tempLen = SendMessage(hwndListBox, LB_GETTEXTLEN, 1, 0);HWND hEdit = GetDlgItem(hwnd, etxt[a]); will not get the Edit of ListBox as you wished, so you should also change the function SaveTextFileFromListBox.Sincerely,WesleyPlease mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help. Here is the process I followed. 1) Pre-requisites: I have Oracle Developer Suite (10.1.2.0.2) (i.e. Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2) and Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4 2) Converted RDF report to XML report using 'rwconverter'. 3) Creating Data template from Oracle Report using DataTemplateGenerator. This creates the XML query template and DB package files. 4) Creating RTF template from Oracle Report using RTFTemplateGenerator. This creates the RTF file. 5) Update the DB package and XML file to make sure the SQL query and other related are working as expected or not. 6) Loaded the Query Template (modified xml file), Format Template (modified RTF template) and then link them to OTM (Oracle Transport Management) report. 7) When running the report from OTM UI, I received the below error. I tried lot of options, but no luck. Basically the lexical parameters are containing the null value in the DB package. If I don't pass any variables then report works fine. Any help is greatly appreciated. ====================== At 2010-07-20 01:49:14.214 BI Publisher Error during Content Generation [014212][][STATEMENT] Logger.init(): *** DEBUG MODE IS OFF. *** [014212][][STATEMENT] Template parsing started. I have an existing RDF file. Developed in Report Builder6 as a Bitmap report - one repeating frame and 2 fields inside this. On Sun Sparc Unix server (database is UTF8), rwrun60c is executed with parameters DESTYPE=FILE, MODE=BITMAP. The resulting postscript file includes the Courier font as expected. If I open this RDF in Report Builder 6, go into Layout Model, and simply cut and re-paste one of the layout fields. When I save this new RDF, and run it the same way as above the postscript file no longer uses Courier for the field that was cut and pasted - it is replaced by Symbol font. The 'untouched' layout field is Courier as expected. Has anyone come across this? It seems as if ANY change to the layout objects results in them losing their font information as stored in the RDF when they're run. I've checked the RDF itself using 'scripts xxx.rdf| grep -i symbol' and there is definitely NO other fonts contained in RDF except Courier. Hello, I am trying to save file to either.rtf or.txt from my RTB. When I save to.rtf it works fine, but when I try to save to.txt it saves the file but it doesn't put the '.txt' extension to the end of the fileName. So when I try to open the file again it doesn't appear as a.txt file, but it works if I manually add the '.txt' file ext. Into the filename at savetime. Here's my code: Dim textType As RichTextBoxStreamType If (SaveFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK) Then If (SaveFileDialog1.FilterIndex = 1) Then textType = RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText Else textType = RichTextBoxStreamType.PlainText End If End If Dim fs As New FileStream(SaveFileDialog1.FileName, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write) RichTextBox1.SaveFile(fs, textType) fs.Close() Anyone can help me?? Well thanks for the ' F.Y.I ', but actually Dave S. Anderson's answer was not correct, I tried it and it didn't work for me, it just helped me to examine my code a little better to find a missed ' TYPO'. The code I had to start with was correct except for the minute mistake, so I posted my correction, and then again replied to Dave's new post about posting the entire corrected code. The answer was not posted twice. I'm not being rude or anything, just trying to clearup. I see what you mean though, will remember! Ok, so I finally got my program to take my tif file and turn it into a txt file (thank you to all who helped with that) and I've done all my manipulation with it, but now I have to save my modified txt file back to a tif format. I know it's more complicated due to the header information contained in the file and other such things, so I can't just simply do the reverse of the tif-txt. Does anyone know of the library(ies) I can use to attempt this? Anyone know what the internal format of a tif file is supposed to be? I tried to find it myself, but to no avail. I know it's another stupid question, but I've been trying to figure this out for a week now and I'm getting a little frustrated. Hi, it probably depends on the OS (or which text editor) you check the file in. Director uses only the char(13) (Carriage Return of CR) as a new line char. Dos/windows refers the char(13) char(10) (Carriage Return Line Feed or CRLF) combo. ( So, either use a different text editor or convert all char(13) to char(13) char(10). Cr = crlf See: (amongst others) for a how to. Manno Somnifer wrote: I'm trying to save the contents of a field member (all short sentences each on a separate line) into a txt-file. Saving the text as an RTF solves the issue, but I really want to save it as a TXT. Is there a way to do this? (using D8.5) -- ---------- Manno Bult [email protected]. Quick question.I have 2 combo boxes. One called cbName the other is cbPhone. What I want to do is fill in the combo boxes and save the info to a.txt file. Name will be on line 1 and phone will be on line 2. Once saved, I want to be able to open that file and have line 1 of the txt file put into cbName and line 2 put into cbPhone. Once opened, It would need to be able to be edited and saved over the old file. Its a little more complex then this but this was the easiest way to explain it. Database is not an option in this case as the.txt file needs to be used for an existing program. Did you fix the cbLastName problem (listed twice)? And did you close your app and then re-start it after reading the first file? It won't persist the data if you close the app.The code worked for me to load 2 separate textfiles into the comboboxes.Keep playing with it. I have an idea about something, but I will be away from my computer for a little. Check back in a while:)edit:OK, instead of loading each textfile one by one each time you click the button, load them all with 1 button click. So to start create 3 textfiles, each with 3 lines - doesn't matter what goes on each line, just make them all different. And save them all to the same folder.create an app with 1 button and 3 comboboxes.then paste this code. Run it and click the button. Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim fbd As New FolderBrowserDialog If fbd.ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK AndAlso fbd.SelectedPath Then Dim myFiles As String() = Directory.GetFiles(fbd.SelectedPath, *.txt, SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly) For Each item As String In myFiles Using sr As StreamReader = New StreamReader(item) ComboBox1.Items.Add(sr.ReadLine) ComboBox2.Items.Add(sr.ReadLine) ComboBox3.Items.Add(sr.ReadLine) End Using Next End If End Sub End Class. Salaam, the idea is easy, when you wanna save to the file, build a string with delimeter say| or, or vbCrlf or vbTab. I produced subtitles using Media Subtitler, had to save as SAMI and take into Subtitle Workshop, and save as Encore format.txt. Import into project, they preview fine, when I go to save the project, the saving project dialog box comes up and the program stops responding. 6 or 7 times now. For kicks, I opened the.txt file in notepad, everything looked okay, I saved as. Upon import into Encore the status bar on the import took a long time but it filled up, then the program stopped responding. Update: well it apparently wasn't hanging, it just took 18 minutes to save the project! I tested with three manually made subtitles on Friday and it took longer than expected to save the project, so I did it today with the full subtitle file, infreakcredible, nearly 20 minutes to save a project that has no menus, one video track, one audio track (video is about 14 minutes long) and one subtitle track. New Dell PC 3.00 Ghz, 2.99Gz dual core proc and 2.0 Gb of ram ( for the life of me I thought I had told IT I wanted 3 Gb of RAM) opening the project seems to take forever as well. Workflow is gonna slow down a heck of a lot. From my local machine I am running a Java code which fetches values from DB and writes it into a TXT file and save the TXT file into a different server say 'A'. This part is working fine if I run the Java code from my local machine. I tried deploying the same Java code into a differnet server say 'B' and executed it, but it failed. The code is trying to save the TXT file into a unknown path which is not specified in the code rather than saving in the server 'A'. Please note, Server 'B' is having write access on server 'A' and I have given the absolute path of server 'A' in code. Can someone tell me why it is trying to save the TXT file to a path which is not specified in code? I am getting the following error message: java.io.FileNotFoundException:.(unknown path) (Access is denied) Plz assist. Hi there, I've written a code in LabWindows/CVI in a way that it will create a big.txt or.DAT file at the end of the code, but as there some antenna pattern measurements and I've got 5 sets of 1601 points readings, so I just want to divide those 5 sets of readings in to 5 small.txt or.DAT file to look at the file individually and compare the values. So can you please help me in this that how can I do in the code that after creating.txt or.DAT file, it will after taking the reading, split the readings i.e., each 1601 point readings and save it in a file, for example, I've created test.DAT file and how can I do this that when creating and saving the data in the file, I'll split that test.DAT into small files like test1.DAT, test2.DAT, test3.DAT etc. I would really appreciate that if anyone could help me in this. Thanks very much for your time and concern. Hope to hear from anyone soon. Most of the answer depends on how data are organized into the files. Supposing text files are organized in rows (i.e. One line per measure, one set of measures after the other) you can simply do the following: OpenFile (source file, read only) For each new file to be created: Properly format the filename OpenFile (new destination file, write only) Iterate a stated number of times: ReadLine (from source file) WriteLine (to destination file) CloseFile (destination file) CloseFile (source file) The result of this process will be a set of output files with the corresponding subsets of your big data set. This is not necessarily the fastest and most efficient method but is the quickest to code. Remember to add proper error tracking to I/O functions. I suppose the.DAT file is some sort of compact (binary) file that you must treat according to the format of data in it: I cannot give you any hint on this as I don't know which data it contains. If it is a description of what the form does, then you are pretty much stuck with manually creating this document.
